Marquel: Hey, what's up, my friend? Marquel Russell here. Welcome to this brand new episode of the School of Client Attraction. [01:01.5]
Today I'm going to answer the question, a very, very popular question, which is, Marquel, what works best, image ads or video ads? We've literally, at this point, spent millions of dollars in ad with our own money and are also helping our clients do the same exact thing. One thing that we found, and this may trip you out, is that they actually both work.
Now, the type of video and the type of images is probably a better question because we've got image ads running right now and we've got video ads running right now, and they both work, they both perform, right? But the biggest thing you want to look at--
Now, I will say this. With videos, you can do more, so it's a lot more audience building you can do, a lot more audiences that you can create, because with videos, you can target people who watch 25 percent of the video, 50 percent of the video, 75 percent of video, 100 percent of the video, so you can create and you can do a lot more. Even if this ad doesn't become a lead, even if they watched your video ad, you could still retarget them to other ads or retargeting or whatever, so there’s a lot more you can do with that, right? Image, you can't do that. [01:59.8]
Now, when it comes to the type of videos and images, what we’ve found is that the native stuff works best, so like the stuff that's less polished. You don't have to go out and do a full-blown photo shoot. You don't want to use stock photos. You want to use stuff that's normal when people are scrolling the Facebook and Instagram feeds and it's not looking like it's just too doctored up, right?
Even your video ads, you can do some type of video. You can get a videographer and all that, but you don't need to be in there with green screen, the whole nine yards. I mean, you can test it, but what we’ve found is that the stuff that fits in and it feels like this is normal should be here.
A lot of my selfie videos, and me just walking and talking to me in the car and somebody recording me, or even just in the studio like this or even a picture where we’ve done a selfie picture or whatever the case may be, we’ve found that those things work the best, or even me just on stage making a crazy face with this person or something seemed to work the best, because the goal is when somebody is scrolling the newsfeed, you want to stop the scroll. You stop the scroll and then win the click, but the first thing you’ve got to do is stop the scroll and the way to do that is by having native and it looks interesting, and you're catching their attention. [03:03.7]
So, that's the better question to ask, like, what's the best type of videos and images, not necessarily image or video, because my answer is to test both.
