In today's episode, I want to make sure you're not making these expensive targeting mistakes when it comes to your ads, because most people are, and I’m seeing this over and over and over again, so I want to talk about it.
The number one expensive, very expensive, costly targeting mistake that I see a lot of people make when it comes to the ads, when you launch an ad where you put your [details]—let me use Facebook and Instagram, for example, because they kind of run hand in hand—in that area where it says your detailed targeting, a lot of people, they put, when it comes to your interest.
If you’ve never run ads before, you probably don’t know what I’m talking about, but they put a whole bunch of them in there. They put this person, this person, this person. They put a whole bunch of them in there and they're just kind of throwing a lot of stuff at the wall to see what sticks.
That doesn't work for a few different reasons. Number one, you don't know which artist is performing. You can be spending more in terms of your advertising costs because you're spending towards the ones that are not working, right, when you could just be focusing on the ones that are working. The best way to do it is basically how we do our “5x5x25 Method”, by having five different audiences, five different targets. [02:04.8]
Now, I’ll give you a free resource in a second that shows exactly how to do that, but that's the best way to do that so you're not spinning unnecessarily. That's the first costly mistake a lot of coaches and consultants are making when it comes to their target and when it comes to their ads. That's number one.
Number two, they're putting too many limitations on Facebook. When you put all these limitations on it, Facebook really can't go to work. Let's say, for example, you say women who are black, who are 25 to 35, who live in Atlanta 15 minutes from the airport, who make 100,000 or more. That's just putting a whole bunch of limitations on Facebook, so they can't really go to work, so it's automatically going to drive your costs up. Okay? It’s automatically going to drive your cost up.
When you're running your ads, I want to make sure you're not making those mistakes, because you’re going to spend a whole lot of money unnecessarily. You're not going to get the return that you want and you're probably going to get limited reach when it comes to your as well, so keep those things in mind when it comes to running your ads.
