Just when I thought click bait was dead…
I was reading an article the other day titled, “Launching a podcast can pay dividends for brands.”
It was an interview with an author of an upcoming book on podcasting.
Here are some of my favorite quotes:
“Businesses can’t expect to necessarily host a viral podcast, but it can be a useful marketing tool”
“One of the first truths you have to come to understand is that you’re not going to have a large audience. Period,”
“Podcasting isn’t necessarily the thing that’s going to make you money, but it’s something that helps you build your brand”
Reading these quotes I'm having a hard time spotting where the “dividends” are in podcasting.
While I agree with most of what this guy is saying, the last part about making dough with your show is totally wrong.
Why? Because if you have an email list and you have a product people want then you can use a podcast to sell more of it.
How do I know? Because I've been doing it since I started The Podcast Factory.
