(00:34): Hey there, gang. Welcome to find your fear so glad that you are here. We are kicking off a brand new series today. It's called a faithful finish. The year is not over today is a new day. It's a new opportunity and we are making the most of it. And we're going to talk a little bit about how we can relax from the stresses of life. And I feel that it's perfect timing to as chaos and unrest tends to pick up during the holiday season. But before we go any further today, I have to say that I just love that you're here listening in and spending time with us. So honored that I get to be a part of your day. You are absolutely also amazing. I have to thank you for your love and support as always. I just so appreciate your feedback and your reviews and love that you share this podcast and the set free message with your friends and family.
(01:17): So if you can keep on doing that, that would be incredible because you are helping this movement, this message, as it helps reach more women and it impacts more lives. And that is certainly what life is all about. So thank you again for just being with us each week. Now I have to say, and I know I always say this. I always start off a new series like this, but I really do have to say that I'm excited for this brand new series and the faithful finish. I'm excited for today's topic. We've talked a bit about this before, but as the holidays approach, and as we finish out the year, I'm feeling that big time be used today as reminder that we all need to hear a reminder that we need to be intentional when it comes to true and deep rest. And it's something that we cannot talk enough about because it's the real thing.
(02:01): And it's so needed. We need rest on a normal day. And when we throw in the holidays and the hustle and bustle, we tend to fall back into a place of unrest and that anxiety starts creeping in, or I don't know about you, but you know, I tend to get frazzled or maybe even overwhelmed and stressed out. And I know I can easily fall back into that trap. I know what it feels like. And because of that, I can spot it a mile away on an end people. I can see it everywhere, but I'm here to tell you it doesn't have to be that way. It doesn't have to be our truth. We don't have to operate out of crazy. We can operate out of a place of rest, rest that only the Lord can provide. And I know in Matthew 1128, it says, this is actually from the passion translation.
(02:49): Are you weary carrying a heavy burden, then come to me. I will refresh your life for, I am your Oasis. Let's pause for a moment. These next 10, 15 minutes, let's just get in the moment let's be present. He says that he will give us the rest that we need. So let's gain some clarity and reflect on how you are feeling in this exact moment. Let's slow down. Let's hit the pause button. It's okay, guys, your to-do lists can wait. All the things, trust me. They're still going to be there. I am convinced that one reason the devil actually has access to us in our emotions is that we keep flying through life without taking time to get renewed in the presence of the Lord. We ignore our need to sit to rest, to just breathe. And as a result, our perception of things around us gets really blurry.
(03:43): And we do too much at a too fast pace and, and we get worn down and we've, we lose our focus and we're unable to see the things the way that they really are. And I know exactly what it's like to move at a fast pace. I've done it all my life. My adrenaline gets flowing. I'm jacked up sideways on coffee and go days at a time. And when I move that fast, it's really hard for me to try to sit down and rest because my mind and emotions are still racing. They're still going 90 miles an hour, unable to take a big, deep breath that when I actually try to sit and relax, that even stresses me out. Our world has taught us to be a hundred percent on all the time. That if you sit down, if you take a breather that you're lazy.
(04:28): And when you sit down, you're still thinking about all the schedules and how we have to get it all done, mapping out how things are going to play out for the next day. And you're still running strong, but here's the thing. There's a really, really big problem with moving so fast. All our demands, our job or career or family or church or friendships, and add anything else to your list of demands, whatever they may be, but they start piling up. They become a burden. They become just another check to check off your list. We raise from place to place. And when that happens, we start becoming ineffective in every area of our life. We try to do too much too fast. And eventually guys, our addiction to the busy-ness leads to a breakdown of everything. Think about that for a second. Does your body suffer?
(05:17): Yes, it does. Our mind suffers our relationships suffer our work suffers because we are too tired and we are an unable to give a hundred percent meaning we are not getting our full potential and it creates this cycle of burnout and exhaustion. And in this failure mindset that I can't keep up kind of thinking. And as a recovering, I got to do it all and I have to have it all together. Performer. I am here to tell you and let you in on a little known fact, that is really, really difficult to do everything all at once. You may be able to rock it out for a little bit, but what's going to happen is you're going to begin to miss important details. You're gonna forget conversations, things that you've said, you miss appointments, you mess up your finances and here's even a good one.
(06:03): You even get emotional over unemotional issues because you've pushed yourself beyond your limit. I left my car running when I re turned home in the garage the other day, because I was not focused. I had a jammed up day, completely unaware of my surroundings. Obviously my mind was racing big time and my husband comes in. He comes home and he asked me if I always leave a car like that, I had no idea. I had no clue what he was talking about. And if this sounds even a little bit familiar to you, if this is you guys, there is a solution, slow down and set aside some time to spend with the Lord. Are you falling into the trap of doing too many things? How's your Christmas season going so far? I wanted to talk about this early in the holiday extravaganza because we can flip the script right now.
(06:56): The season can be different for you. You don't have to be on a train, racing down the track, missing out on everything that truly matters. You're you know, you're overloaded. Schedule the pressures of doing it all and doing it all with perfection. How can you slow down and discover rest? The Lord is asking you, it's nudging. You. He's inviting you come to me. He says, and I will give you rest. You're exhausted. I will give you rest. You go on nonstop. I will give you rest. You stressed out anxious. I will give you rest. You're carrying a heavy load. I will give you rest unable to slow down feeling the holiday pressure that deadline's approaching. I will give you rest. I will refresh. I will rejuvenate. I will reinvigorate. I will revitalize ladies. He wants us to go to him. You have to believe that the Lord wants to refresh us to recharge us so we can keep doing what he has called us to do.
(07:51): He wants us to be refilled with what only he can give us. So we can be a hundred percent living our best for our souls to be filled with peace, to be filled with calm, to be filled with rest. We want to be present. We want to enjoy the season that we are in right now in this moment, no matter what is going on around us, then the only way to be a powerhouse for the Lord is to make sure we spend time with the Lord. Are you willing to quiet yourself by getting away from the commotion and all the distractions of life. Guys, I encourage you to find a quiet place to worship, pray and dive into the word. You know, I'm in my closet quite often. This is I'm actually right here. It's quiet there. That's my spot. We have to quiet our souls, our hearts, our minds.
(08:31): So we're able to hear God's voice speaking to our inner most being. And I get it. It's really hard to hear what he tells us and all his next steps. When we're caught up in the everyday of life, you know how we schedule like doctor's appointments, hair appointments, sporting events, right? Our work deadlines. We must schedule time to be alone with God. If you are too busy, here's a red flag. If you were too busy to schedule time with God, that is that red flag waving at you, telling you that it is exactly what you are needing. That is the number one sign that you need to slow down to stop running, to stop chasing, to stop allowing busy-ness to run your day. The time I decided to schedule the Lord into my day was the day I discovered that I could operate out of a place of rest.
(09:15): Spiritual rest was found. I get it. We do have stuff to get done. We do have to do lists that will not go away. Can not be ignored, but we can do all those things without the stress, the worry, the overwhelm. We could do all that with our sanity and our joy. Here's something else I found I had to make sure not to run in and run out of a Lord's presence, right? It's not a regular appointment where you usually rush from one thing to the next. It's not a check in the check box. Flip the script. Here it is guys. It is a divine appointment where you settle down and stay there long enough to get everything you need to be fully charged. When you slow down and stop long enough to really rest in his love and his presence, you will finally be in a position to receive all that he has for you.
(10:01): Just hang out with him. Don't be in a hurry. Let the holy spirit give you all the peace, the joy, the strength, the courage, and the direction that he has for you. It takes practice. It takes repetition. It takes time to learn, to rest in God's presence, to grab ahold of his comfort, to embrace the protection that he gives. Let's go back to Matthew 1128. Are you weary carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me. I will refresh your life for I am your Oasis going into verse 29. It says, simply join your life with mine. You have to go to him. He's there waiting for you, but you must choose. We must be deliberate, but he promised all of us that we will find rest in all the stresses of life and all the schedules and the addiction. I had to saying yes to everything, right?
(10:52): With the quiet time I spent with him and all the times that I was still, I was able to hear all that he had to say all the direction, all his next steps. He might just tell you to start filling your days up with things that actually make you feel alive versus jamming your days up with what the world values that ultimately causes the burnout and anxiety. He actually freed up so much space in my life and my family's life and my heart. It's amazing what he speaks to your heart, how he speaks with so much love and conviction.
(11:23): If I haven't already been bold enough, I'm going to speak with bonus here. And please know my heart spending time with the Lord is not an option is non-negotiable. It is the answer. It is the solution. You've been looking for step into his presence and allow him to refresh you. Let him recharge. You strengthen you to give you a fresh perspective, a new energy to finish the season. Super, super strong. Here's a few questions for you to reflect on this week. When do you spend time with the Lord? Is your time with him more to you than all the other things that you have scheduled to accomplish is your time with him important. Is there a reason you haven't planned it into your schedule and when you spend time with the Lord, how long do you usually stay in his presence? Do you like to read your Bible?
(12:06): Do you pray warship? How can you tweak your schedule to make sure your time with God is a top priority? Are you willing to look at your calendar and your schedule this week and see what you can move around to make that time with your creator? I want to end with this. I totally get that the holiday season can get crazy that it can be a distraction to what truly matters and why we even celebrate Christmas in the first place. My hope for you is that you take this message to heart and flip the script this season, like I said before, we have the answer right in front of us. You don't have to live with the stress and the anxiety any longer, go to him, seek him, find your rest in him, but end it there. Guys. Thank you for being here.
