One of the BIGGEST mistakes I see people make when it comes to podcasting is waiting too long to get started.
You pop into Facebook groups and masterminds asking people where you should get started.
You sit on the sidelines figuring out what equipment you should use, what podcast course to buy, how to get your show into iTunes, and what your cover art should look like instead of getting your show on the air quickly so you can get into the ears of your ideal customers.
While you're wasting time getting everything “right” more and more of your competitors are starting their podcast shows.
They're getting the listeners that should be yours and they're selling them their inferior products.
And you know what, you're being selfish.
Why? Because if you know that you have a way to help people and you really believe in what you do, you need to be telling as many people as possible about it so they have a chance to work with you.
That's one of the cool things about podcasting. You can record one show and thousands of people can listen to it.
And it compounds too.
We see it with our clients all the time.
A new person finds your podcast, they like what they hear and then they dive into your old shows to hear more from you.
This “binge listening” is one of the ways podcasting helps you boost your (K)now (L)ike and (T)rustability with your listeners.
As you know, people buy from people they Know Like and Trust.
Here are three questions to ask yourself to know if you're ready to have your own podcast:
1. Do you have clients already?
2. Do you have a unique point of view?
3. Do you want more clients?
If you can answer yes to all three of these questions you're probably ready for a podcast.
Yeah, I know it seems stupid simple – but if you already have clients and you want more of them the best way I know to do this is to clone you clients by creating an irresistible podcast they look forward to each week.
This is one of the first things we help our clients with at The Podcast Factory.
