Marquel: Hey, what’s up, my friend? Dr. Marquel Russell here, the King of Client Attraction, and welcome to this brand new episode of the School of Client Attraction. [01:04.3]
Now, in today's episode, I want to share with you my top three lessons. I had a lot of lessons, but I’ll share with you my top three lessons from 2021. Now, of course, we're full blown into the first quarter of 2022, but I want to share this with you because I think this is going to be very, very valuable for you. Let's get into it.
Number one, the number one lesson, and these not in any particular order, but this one is being an entrepreneur and being a CEO/business owner are two completely different things, right? The skills that get you to the six-figure mark if you’re at the six-figure mark, typically, aren't going to get you the seven-figure mark, and what has gotten you to the seven typically aren’t going to get you the eight-figure mark. It’s going to call for a different identity, and just transitioning from that solo entrepreneur to having a team and serving at a high level are two completely different things, so that’s number one.
Number two, six-, seven- and eight-figure business owners don't start from scratch. A lot of people out here, they're trying to start something new. They're trying to start something from scratch. They're trying to figure it out on their own. They're trying to watch courses and YouTube videos, and trying to put all the stuff together on their own, when they can simply tap into the 10,000 hours of other people. [01:58.0]
If you're not familiar with the concept of 10,000 hours, Malcolm Gladwell talks about this in his book, I forget exactly [the title]. The Outliers, and it basically talks about it and I think Robert Greene talks about it in Mastery as well somebody told me, but basically he says that it takes 10,000 hours to master something. That's his theory, right? Instead of you trying to master everything, you go find other individuals who have mastered a thing and you pay them to tap into their 10,000 hours. Okay? That’s number two.
Number three, the focused rule the world. The focused rule the world. In 2021, a lot of new things happened. I think Clubhouse happened in 2021 if I'm not mistaken. The Metaverse happened. Facebook changed its name. Web 3.0 kind of came out. Of course, they were new things to the masses, but these guys have been working on this stuff behind the scenes forever. It just kind of came to the surface basically.
A lot of people got distracted and they took their eyes off the ball, and they got taken down this rabbit hole and that rabbit hole and this rabbit hole and they paid for it. Right? But the people who were focused, they continued to knock the ball out of the court. It was like, Okay, y'all had that, y'all had that, y'all had that, and they stayed locked in and they saw a harvest from that sea of focus. [03:09.0]
