Where were we?
Last week I told you about some of the biggest lies in podcasting today. First was the lie that you have to launch with a ton of shows, then there was the other one about having to do five shows per week to get top rankings.
Today I want to share one of the ugliest lies that might be keeping you from starting your podcast.
But before I do, I want to start with a quick disclaimer because some of you might want to blame me for spreading this farce.
I tell you all the time you must have an email list before you start your show. And that's one hundred percent accurate. Never have I said how big your email list must be in order to have success. The follow up to the email list question is always how often are you in touch with them. Why? Because a million people on your list who don't know who you are is useless. I'd rather work with someone with ten people on their list who hear from you everyday.
Now, onto the ugly little lie about needing a big email list to get top rankings in iTunes.
In the next Podcast Mogul Newsletter you'll get a case study from a person who had a very small – nearly non-existent list who totally loved her.
I'll show you how we leveraged that small list plus my launch strategy to get her show all the way up to No3 on the charts in under thirty days.
