I saw some interesting things this week from the political world and real estate world…

Harry Reid, departing Democratic Senate Minority Leader, said he had no regrets about lying on the Senate floor that Republican Mitt Romney hadn’t paid his taxes.

His response “Romney didn’t win, did he?”

The end justifies the means, right?

And then there was this story from Colorado. A woman harassed by real estate agent phone calls, saying she received about 75 to 100 calls in a matter of 12 hours.

She called them vultures.

What’s really interesting is some of the comments I’ve seen from real estate agents out there…

Things like…

“Better to be the vulture than the roadkill.”


“Her contact info is public domain, get over it.”

The end justifies the means, right?

And we wonder why people hate politicians?

And we wonder why people hate real estate agents?

And we wonder why consumers trust Zillow more than they do local Realtors?

Susan Scott, author of Fierce Conversations, says people can leave an emotional wake (like a boat).

“An emotional wake is what you remember after I’m gone. What you feel. The aftermath, aftertaste, or afterglow.”

If the above examples feel OK to you…

If you can sleep at night, look yourself in the mirror…

If you can justify having your boat at wide open speed, to get where you want to go, while you destroy your neighbors boats, docks and shore…

If you believe you can pester people into doing business with you…

If you believe brute force is the best way, the only way to get business…
