Sean: One trait that the top billion-dollar app business owners possess is their ability to think and dream far bigger than most, which allows them to achieve the results, that, to many, appear to be unimaginable.

Today I want to talk to you about how to think bigger, in order to be able to achieve far greater results for you and your app business, so stay tuned.

Hey, I'm Sean Casto, and I have helped thousands of apps over the years to go from zero to millions of downloads and sales, turn their app dream into a reality and become financially free. And it's now my mission to help others like you succeed. So, how do you build and grow an app business from nothing to millions of downloads and sales? Well, this is the “App Secrets Podcast.”

I meet with so many app business owners each week that are just thinking too small. They're treating their app like it's a hobby. They're just hoping for some market validation with their app. They're hoping for some recognition, hoping for an additional 1,000 or 10,000 or 100,000 downloads. [01:21.0]

It's how a majority of apps in the market operate, and this is just thinking too small. So many people are just creating an app and treating it like a side project. They launch it and just hope for the best. They spend years on it and just get a handful of users. So many app business owners are thinking small because they tell themselves they don't have the resources to be successful, or the team or the expertise, or they just don't believe their app is valuable enough to benefit others.

If you actually want to achieve more and widen your opportunities, then in order to get to the next level of success for you and your app, you must think and act in a wildly different way than you previously would before. Otherwise, you're just going to get the same result, right? [02:10.9]

You have to step away from ordinary goals and being reasonable. It takes us being unreasonable to create unreasonable success. It's also the unordinary ones that build incredibly successful apps like Snapchat, Uber, Airbnb, and many other billion-dollar apps out there. And sometimes it's the people who no one imagines anything of that can come to do the things that no one can imagine, but it takes courage and commitment.

Sam Altman, serial entrepreneur who sold his app Loopt for $43 million, once shared how a big secret is that you can actually bend the world to your will, a surprisingly large percentage of the time. Most people don't even try and just accept that things are just the way they are. I believe this to be so true. [03:10.3]

If you're listening to this episode, it's because you're seeking to have a successful app business and transcend your app to the top of the market. And what's great about being in the industry is that it gives you the freedom to do what you love and what you're passionate about.

This industry is the new frontier for innovation and creating disruptive movements. Think about it. We've seen traditional businesses changed forever by using apps, such as the transportation industry with the introduction of Uber, the restaurant industry with the introduction of OpenTable, the hotel industry with Airbnb, and the list goes on.

Today, app creators are the new visionaries, who impact hundreds of millions of people every single day with their creation. They disrupt industries and, in many cases, change the world for the better.

The problem is most people don't believe they can actually achieve the same results they read about and see at the top of the app stores. [04:08.2]

I'm here to tell you that it's possible. Whether you are the app business owner or the one in charge of marketing it, it's your job to now touch the lives of others and share your creation.

Today, I'd like to share one of my favorite unique clips of a very, very old recording of the late great Steve Jobs. This was recorded before the App Store was even created, before iPhones, before iPads, even before the iPod. This was recorded in the very, very early stages of when Steve jobs was just first creating Apple. It will give you a sense of how he thought of the world and our abilities as visionaries to change it.

As you listen to this clip, which I'll play in a second, I encourage you to think about your app and the impact that you can make with it. I bought the rights to share this recording with you and it's my hope that it will inspire you to think bigger. [05:08.0]

“When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and your life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family life. Have fun. Save a little money.

“But life … That’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact, and that is everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you. And you can change it. You can influence it. You can build your own things that other people can use.

“The minute that you understand that you can poke life and actually something will … if you push in, something will pop out the other side, that you can change it, you can mold it, that’s maybe the most important thing. It’s to shake off this erroneous notion that life is there and you’re just going to live in it, versus embrace it, change it, improve it, make your mark upon it. [06:23.5]

“I think that’s very important and however you learn that, once you learn it, you’ll want to change life and make it better, because it’s kind of messed up, in a lot of ways. Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.”

I wanted to share this episode with you today, because once I fully understood that I could achieve the same results and success as those I looked up to, everything changed for me.

As Steve Jobs said, everything you see out there in the market today, including all the incredible and successful billion-dollar apps out there, were created by people no smarter than you. [07:06.3]

They don't have superpowers. They were just like you when starting off. If they can do it, you can do it. I believe your potential is in direct correlation to your desire and drive, and if you can dream it, you can do it.

Now is the time to make your mark. Apple has reported there's over 100 million visitors worldwide each week, looking for apps on the App Store. That's over 2 billion people each month that could potentially download and find your creation. It doesn't even include the Google Play store either. There's absolutely no better time than now to be in the app industry with new million-dollar apps created every single week, and it's my hope that your app would be one of them.

To wrap it up, today, after this episode, I encourage you to take a second to consider, What would it look like if you 10X-ed your app goals and traction? What would it look like if you could positively impact a million or even 10 million people with your app? [08:07.9]
